sleep...who needs that!

Today, the little boy does NOT want to sleep. I don't blame him, all of a sudden the world has become such an interesting place for him. He is now mobile and I think that brings a whole new possibility of discovery for him. He not only looks at EVERYTHING around him but now he gets to everything that was once out of arms reach.
People always comment on what a serious baby he is. People wonder why he doesn't smile and laugh at them but I think he is investigating everything about them. He smiles when it's someone he knows but otherwise he is just so busy examining the new person that he really doesn't have time to be 'cute'.
He is truly a boy these days, he loves blocks and banging things. He really has no interest in a stuffed animal or blanket...he could care less. Like most other babies(and men for that matter he loves electronics... cell phones and remotes top his list.
Finally finished putting together his Halloween costume today, should be really cute...
Stupid blogger will not let me post pics...will try in a bit

a mothers word

With the passing of a good friend and colleague of mine this past week I am reminded that life is too short. I spoke with his mother while he was in the hospital and she told me that no matter how old her son gets, he is still her baby. She looked at him with the same love and adoration that she had the day he was born. Her love blinded her and protected her during his most fragile days. When she saw him, she did not see a sick man but rather a happy, loving and playful baby. Thus the beauty of parenthood, you see what you want to see. Love is blind and I think that in times of illness, that is one of the greatest things.
With his passing, I know that each moment I spend with my son needs to be the best moment. Eli doesn't necessarily need the best things or have to have the most things but rather quality love from his parents. This was something I always new but this past week it came more to life for me. So, with each death comes life and I make a promise to Brad that the time I spend with Eli will be the best.

a free minute

Well, it's 5:45AM, Eli just ate and went back to sleep. Adam is out of town so I am trying to get everything ready to go to work and drop the little boy off at his daycare. Of course, I have fifty thousand other things I could be doing but instead I am sitting at the computer...
He is really a "crawling" machine these days but really he just rocks. I give it another week and he should be moving all about. We finally got a rug for the living room downstairs so now he has somewhere to crawl and flop without hurting himself.
The exciting news is that I have a cleaning crew starting on Thursday. One of the perks of going back to work is that I can afford to indulge myself every once in a while. Well, I hired a cleaning company that will come every other week and this week they do a deep cleaning on the entire house...I am breathing easier already!
Gotta run but here are some cute pics of the little man!

ready, set...FLOP!

Eli is so close to crawling, he has managed to make a lunge or two but has yet to gracefully master the art of left arm/right leg or vice versa. He gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth and occasionally will give a little scoot at which point Adam and I cheer like crazy. Then comes the FLOP as he plops down to the ground. It will only be a matter of time before he is moving all around but hopefully not before we get done childproofing, order our kid gates and get a rug...but the little boy is on his own schedule!

sick days...

So the little boy has been "sick" for a while now. It all started about 3 weeks ago with clear drainage which I thought was teething, then came the yucky green stuff, then severe congestion, then a dry cough and then a wet cough. So, we took him to the old doc yesterday and sure enough the little boy has what looks to be strep throat and some upper respiratory gunk! You know it's bad when the "homeopathic" doctor recommends antibiotics! So, Adam and I took off today and have been spending time with him all day.
