splish splash...

So, I was in the bedroom picking up some clothes and I hear this splish splash coming from the bathroom. I turn, look and see Eli playing with the water in the toilet(he had lifted the lid up all by himself)!!! I guess I still have some childproofing to do!

hmmm....

I am seeing a very familiar trend occurring when Adam is out of town...and I am not liking it one bit. This is how it goes...
1. All is well in the Cutts household
2. Adam gets on the plane to go out of town
3. All goes terribly wrong in the Cutts household
4. I don't get to sleep for at least 3 days

Why??? I have yet to figure this out but I am sure that somewhere in the midst of no sleep, a VERY cranky baby, and the dogs going crazy...god surely has a plan for me. Hopefully I will be figuring out this plan in the near future but until then, I dread when Adam is out of town!

For the love of...

Adam and I got this fantastic new camera and it has this awesome red eye reduction feature, the only problem is that it has a huge red light that flashes before the picture. Well, Eli and his little sensitive hazel eyes don't like that big red light and he has decided that right before we take a picture he is going to squint so that it doesn't hurt his eyes. Gotta love him for being so smart...

All by myself!

Eli stood today for the first time by himself. He grabbed my hands to stand up and then when he was stable I just let go and he stood there for about 7 seconds. He was so proud of himself!

10 months!

10 months today...and under the weather on his birthday :(
Eli is growing daily, he is such a wonderful little fellow these days. He is busier than ever and really never stops. He continues to love to eat, he really likes anything and we have been continually adding more solid foods. His latest liking is saltine crackers. He still refuses to take any type of sippy cup but is getting slightly better. He is crawling...fast. He keeps his Dad and I on our toes and we are continually having to child proof and put up more gates. He is not yet standing unassisted but can stand up anywhere as long as he has a hand on something. He has started walking as long as he is holding on to something. He has a trike that he likes to use as a walker and will cruise all around with it.
Weight:22 pounds 5 oz.
Height: 30+inches
Likes: his trike, his little blocks(especially the duck one), still the Leap Frog table and the dogs water bowl
Dislikes: Still doesn't care much for the car seat, being told no, any kind of sippy cup or regular cup

The joys of parenthood...

There are many great things about being a parent but I think the most rewarding is watching your child grow. I think for some parents it is sad to see their little baby growing up but I don't miss the days when Eli slept all day and ate ALL the time. I am so happy to see him growing, to watch him interact and enjoy life.
Where am I going with all this? Well, today Eli went to his first birthday party. I consider it a milestone, a time where I really reflect and realize that he is growing up. Sure, he is still a baby and he really didn't "get" the party but he had a great time. He interacted, crawled, played and observed everything that was going on. I know that this is just the first of MANY but it was fun to watch him...

I LOVE this picture!

sugar packets, train whistles, etc...

Embarking upon a new year, I am always thinking about the new year and all the "resolutions" and life goals that I will aim to fulfill. Last year was the highlight of my life. It was full of challenges and obstacles but had, by far, the greatest outcome. This year, I have much to be thankful for...a wonderful husband, a son who has blessed my life, a fantastic family and wonderful friends.
One of my goals this year is to take time to appreciate the little things, the small things that really help make my life great!
Here are some of the "little" things I am grateful for...
1. sugar packets and the little containers that hold them in restaurants
*this entertains Eli for at least 30 minutes when we go out to eat...better than any toy!
2. wood train whistle(thanks to my sister and brother-in-law)
*No matter how mad, tired, frustrated or cranky Eli gets, this will always cheer him up
3. white noise maker
*thanks to Cheryl who told me about this, Eli sleeps so much better with it...which means we sleep better!
4. jars of organic baby food
*when I am pressed for time or energy, this is my 'go to' food for Eli. He loves it, I feel good about feeding it to him and it keeps my kitchen A LOT cleaner then when I make it!
5. the maids
*no need to explain but as Adam says, "they have increased our quality of life"
6. the Bissel wet/dry hard floor cleaner
*for anyone with hard floors, this is an amazing invention
7. The ergo baby carrier
* a must have for anyone with a big baby
8. instant hand sanitizer
*you just have to love it
9. Ecover cleaning products
*in my effort to go "green" this brand rocks
10. heated car seats
*considering we had 75 degree weather today, I didn't need them but when it's cold, I love them!
